With the refinement and exportation of Chinese porcelain came the exquisite art of china painting, popular among ladies of the Victorian era, and still practiced today in quiet circles around the world.  Porcelain paint is powder, ground with a medium of oil and must be fired in a kiln, at exact temperature, after each layer of application.  Several firings are often required, establishing images that actually become one with the porcelain base.  This medium lends itself well to wearable art in the form of unique bracelets, pins, buttons, and jewelry as well as small portraiture.
